At Global Canada Foundation, we believe that a developed society is measured not only by its rate of growth, but also by how we care for the most vulnerable among us.
The fundraising program “Providing Assistive Equipment for Individuals with Neurological and Motor Function Impairments” was launched with the goal of delivering practical support-helping recipients not only survive, but live with autonomy and dignity.
Why did Global Canada Foundation launch this program?
Canada is a country with a well-developed social support system, including programs such as the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) and ODSP. However, in reality, there remains a significant gap between policy and the actual needs of individuals.
We have observed that:
Many devices are only partially funded, leaving the remaining cost as a heavy burden for families
Not all necessary equipment is covered under existing support programs
Approval processes can be lengthy, while the need for assistance is often urgent
Certain groups (new immigrants, low-income individuals) face difficulties accessing support systems
These gaps lead to a reality where many people must live with limited mobility or complete dependence on others-simply due to the lack of appropriate assistive equipment.
Global Canada Foundation launched this program to bridge that gap-through concrete, timely actions that directly address real needs.
What does the program aim to achieve?
We aim to:
Help recipients increase independence in daily living
Improve quality of life and mental well-being
Reduce the burden on families and caregivers
Enable individuals to re-engage with the community and society
Types of supported equipment
Depending on actual needs, the program may provide:
Wheelchairs (manual and electric)
Mobility aids (walkers, crutches, etc.)
Rehabilitation equipment
Communication support devices
Home assistance devices
Target beneficiaries
The program prioritizes:
Individuals affected by stroke, neurological injuries, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, etc.
Individuals with mobility disabilities
Elderly individuals with reduced mobility
Individuals facing financial hardship
How you can contribute
We invite support from the community through:
Financial contributions to help purchase suitable equipment
Donations of gently used equipment
Corporate partnerships (CSR initiatives)
Sharing information with those in need or those who can help
Commitment from Global Canada Foundation
Transparency in the use of funds
Ensuring the right support reaches the right individuals
Monitoring and documenting real impact after support is provided
Creating long-term value, not just short-term assistance
Message
A wheelchair, an assistive device-may seem small to some, but for others, it can mean an entirely new chance at life.
Global Canada Foundation believes that when we act together, small changes can create a profound impact.
